Saddles ride Aaron Jones to a thrilling win

Updated: Sep 27, 2022

RB rolls up 28 points as Blayze bests Pringle and the Beaters, 85-84

Aaron Jones enjoying his Lambeau Leap on Sunday.

The Super Bowl preview in Week 2 ended up being everything we'd hoped it would be. Surprise scoring? Check. The Spread Beaters got 32 (thirty two!) from Carson Wentz on Sunday afternoon, and they even had an Allen Robinson sighting (he had 11) after he ghosted Matt in Week 1.

And then there was Sunday night, Packers

vs. Bears, and a guy named Aaron took

over. No, not that Aaron. Not the QB.

Aaron Jones, the RB. he ran around the Bears, ran through the Bears, caught passes over the Bears and generally harassed the Bears for 28 points and a Saddles victory.

Jones' performance, combined with a late interception tossed by Beaters QB Jalen Hurts with 4 minutes left in the game (with his team ahead 24-7!), ended up deciding the contest. Asked why his QB was throwing into double coverage with a 17-point lead and four minutes to play when he'd already scored 23 points and had his team one point ahead, Beaters coach Matt Pringle responded: "@%#$!%@*#!!!!"

We couldn't find video of the interception that cost him the game, but we thought that we'd included a previous Hurts interception video for your viewing pleasure.

The Saddles are now 2-0 and atop the ST division. Also 2-0 and atop the Silent Division are the Recliners, who are now the only unbeaten team left in that division after a 128-111 triumph over the Band Aids. On to the rest of the roundup...

Recliners 128, Band Aids 111: Ask Bob Garcia if he'd be happy with 111 points from his team, and he'd respond with "hell yes!" and expect a W. But not when his opponent is throwing up 128, like Chris Zimnoch did this week. Thanks to a barnburner between the Ravens and the Dolphins, Recliners QB Lamar Jackson posted 41 points, a third of his team's total output. WR Tyreek Hill (Dolphins) added 31 more. Meanwhile, Bob managed to stay in it, for a while, despite 10 from his QB, Geno "I Got Sacked Again" Smith, mainly because of the 20 points from Buffalo's defense, 13 from kicker Daniel Carlson and 34 from his receiving corps of Rashod Bateman and Mike Williams. He even got 17 from first-round draft pick TE Mike Andrews.

Gerbils 90, Invalids 76: Speaking of defense, Chuck Nelson's extremely happy about his selection of Tampa Bay. Mainly because they scored 26 points to lead the Gerbils to their first win of the season. RB Christian McCaffrey, kicker Tyler Bass and WR Courtland Sutton added 12 each. The defending champs, who fell to 1-1, got 21 from Cooper Fucking Kupp, 17 from the other Aaron on the Packers and not a whole lot else.

Pillows 101, Packers 70: Matt Huey got 28 from Nick Chubb and 25 more from Kyler Murray as his Pillow Biters smothered the now 0-2 Pack. Darren Waller (11) and kicker Ryan Succop (10) were the only other Pillow Biters to score in double digits. The Pack got 29 from QB Josh Allen and 13 from K Evan McPherson but not much help from the others.

Tirades 89, Rangers 58: The Tirades' starters managed to outscore its bench this week, and sometimes that will lead to a victory. The Rangers, on the other hand? The bench had 88, almost enough to win this one. First-round draft pick Stefon Diggs led the Tirades with 32 and fellow wide receiver Michael Thomas had 12, his second consecutive game in double digits. The 49ers defense added 12 and almost had a shutout had it not been for a blocked FG that led to the only Seattle TD in a 27-7 Niners win. Matt Stafford was the only ray of light for the Rangers, scoring 18.
