No real surprises in Week 11 results

Son-in-laws split decisions against father-in-laws: Band Aids top Saddles to extend lead in ST division; WTNE defeats Rangers and are tied with Invaiders atop Silent Division

Calvin Ridley, who cost WTNE a first-round pick in a Week 1 trade, finally erupted with 23 points last weekend for Jordan Garcia's first-place team. Too bad he was on the bench.

Right off the bat we need to offer a tip of the cap to Jordan Garcia. Not only did his WTNE knockoff his father-in-law John Lambert's Rangers last weekend, he finally saw some positive results from that halftime trade in Week 1 that landed him WR Calvin Ridley.

Ridley had not done a whole lot since Jordan sent a first-round draft pick to Blayze Hanson for him. That was back when Blayze was predicted to finish 9th overall and was already in fire sale mode (you might have been too, if your father-in-law Bob Garcia had drafted your team). Ridley scored 23 points on Sunday, the most he's produced since scoring 13 in Week 1, and here's the best part: he was on the bench. Sure, it was only the second time since the trade that he's even reached double figures, but we enjoyed the irony anyway.

It's not that Jordan even needed Ridley anyway. But by making that trade, he did essentially prevent Blayze from beating Bob last weekend: the Band Aids only won that game by six, and the Saddles could have scored 112 with Ridley in there instead of Tyler Boyd (2). But I digress.

I'll save some scheduling updates for Vern's preview tomorrow, but one thing the Swami forgot to alert you about for Thanksgiving week is the first-ever "Black Friday" game the day after Thanksgiving, when the Jets and Dolphins will go at it. Swami went 4-1 last week and is now 34-21 on the season which is slightly worse than his team's record (7-4).

Here's a recap of the Week 11 action.

WTNE 116, RANGERS 87: Jordan took John to the woodshed. QB Justin Herbert led the way with 25 and the Bills defense added 21. K Jason Myers, WR DJ Moore and RB Christian McCaffrey each scored 15. The Rangers were led by QB Jalen Hurts, who scored 21.

BAND AIDS 97, SADDLES 92: In the other contest between son-in-law and father-in-law, Bob Garcia handled things with recent acquisition Brandon Aiyuk making his presence felt in the Band Aids WR corps immediately. Aiyuk let the team with 21 points, Tank Dell added 20 more and keeper WR Amon-Ra St. Brown had 13. QB Pat Mahomes may have lost the game on MNF against the Eagles on Monday, but he had 20 points for Bob. If Marquez Valdes-Scantling (right) could catch a perfectly-thrown pass, he'd have scored 30, the Chiefs would have won, the Eagles would be 8-2 and the Niners would be a game back of home field advantage. Damn you, Valdes-Scantling. And Go Niners. QB Kyler Murray led Blayze with 21. Marquez Valdes-Scantling drops it. D'oh!

INVAIDERS 103, TIRADES 68: Vern Ahrendes is in a first-place tie with WTNE after an easy and expected blowout win over the Tirades. RB Saquon Barkley had 25 points, QB Lamar Jackson had 23 and the deaded Cowboys defense added 21. For the Tirades, only QB Brock "Mr. Irrellevant" Purdy broke into double digits, scoring a season-high 26.

BEATERS 90, RECLINERS 84: Reports of the Spread Beaters demise are premature, we tell you. Defending champ Matt Pringle kept his team a game back of the division lead with the win over Chris Zimnoch's Recliners. The Miami connection of WR Tyreek Hill (20) and QB Tua Tagovailoa (18) led the Beaters, who also got 18 from a resurgent RB D'Andre Swift on Monday night. The Recliners were led by K Will Lutz's 17 points, and if your kicker is your leading scorer, well, enough said about that.

PACKERS 82, GERBILS 72: If you're going to have an off week, Jeff Lambert, you certainly picked a good week for it... you hope you are either going against the hapless Tirades or the almost-as-hapless Gerbils. The latter was the case here as Chuck Nelson's Gerbils were hampered by the loss of QB Joe Burrow, who had been on a scoring tear since regaining his legs. Unfortunately he went out for the season with a busted wrist after scoring 18 points on Thursday. The Packers, who countered with QB Josh Allen's 22 points, got a surprising 17 from Devin Singletary. WR Mike Evans added 10.
