Draft day quickly approaching

It's time to start the serious prep work, if we have any hope of preventing Matt Pringle from a third consecutive title

Invaiders owner Vern Ahrendes looks for the Air Tag he'd hidden in the bottom of the JSFL championship trophy after he won the title in 2021, the first time he'd seen the trophy up close in 34 years. "I just wanted to make sure I always knew where it's at, in case I win again in 2054 and I'm too senile to make my own lineup changes," Ahrendes said.

As Invaiders owner (and two-time champ, 31 years apart) Vern Ahrendes would say: "I'm feeling a draft coming on."

And he's correct. We are now less than 10 days away from the 38th annual JSFL Draft, which is set for Saturday, Aug. 24 at commissioner Jeff Lambert's stunning abode in Del Mar. Also, we're now two years away from our 40th anniversary draft event, which will likely be held in Las Vegas, unless climate change has made southern Nevada uninhabitable.

The timeline for the draft has tentatively been set:

8am: Pre-draft golf outing at Rancho Santa Fe Executive course. So far, Vern, Ron and Bob have commited to this; if you'd like to join, e-mail Vern before Friday, Aug. 16

11am: Draft set to begin at Casa Lambert. If there are Lambert horses running at Del Mar, the draft will move to the track at some point.
