Matt Pringle's Spread Beaters hold on to take the title 97-85 over Chris Zimnoch's Recliners after a week-long scoring delay
Matt Pringle's custom-made lederhosen were on display as he celebrated his JSFL triumph.
An almost machine-like effort from the entire starting lineup led the Spread Beaters to the 2022 JSFL Championship last week. Seven of the eight starting positions scored in double figures as Matt Pringle won the Steve Brown Memorial Trophy for the second time. Pringle also won the title in 2015, and commissioner Jeff Lambert noted that "he only has six more to go to catch up with me."
And Pringle won it all despite leaving 58 points on the bench: QB Daniel Brown scored 36 (starter Gardner Minshew had 12) and running back De'Andre Swift had 22 (starters Kenneth Walker III had 13 and Tyler Allgeier 15). His WRs also combined for 28 points: AJ Brown had 15 and Chris Godwin 13. The Patriots Defense and kicker Michael Badgley each scored 12. Only his tight end T.J. Hockenson let Pringle down, scoring only 5.
For the Recliners, who had the best regular-season record in the league, QB Jared Goff led the way with 22 points. Chris Zimnoch also got 14 from the NY Giants defense, 13 from kicker Robbie Gould and 12 from RB Joe Mixon, whose points came from last Sunday's game against the Ravens. His other Bengals starter, WR Tee Higgins, had a donut against Baltimore. WR Tyreek Hill had 11.
Pringle, who was perhaps six steins in after his victory, graciously offered to buy a round for the JSFL ownership group at the L'Auberge bar before the 2023 draft (mark your calendars now: Aug. 26, 2023), so I am looking forward to my $20 martini.
