Band Aids, Beaters advance to final

Matt Pringle's Spread Beaters go wire-to-wire against WTNE; Bob Garcia's Raven and 49ers help him rally late to beat Packers

Garbage time points from WR Brandon Aiyuk (left) and TE George Kittle helped Bob Garcia's Band Aids rally from a big deficit to beat the Packers 95-91 and advance to the final.

It was a thrilling Christmas miracle for Bob Garcia, a disappointing loss for commissioner Jeff Lambert and a "that's what we expected" result from the defending champions last weekend as the Band Aids and Spread Beaters advanced to the JSFL championship game.

The Band Aids, who held the best regular season record at 10-3, needed a bunch from Ravens K Justin Tucker and two 49ers (WR Brandon Aiyuk and TE George Kittle, both acquired via trades), going in to last night's epic showdown between the NFL's two best teams.

Garcia was down 87-56 and ESPN gave him a less than 40% chance of winning the game before the kickoff of the Ravens-Niners game, which capped off a triple-header of Christmas Day games. And it didn't look good after three quarters, either: Bob got 16 from K Justin Tucker but the Ravens were winning a blowout and were not likely to be kicking more FGs. The 49ers were down to backup QB Sam Darnold so Kittle (4 points at the time) and Aiyuk (2 points) hadn't done much and didn't look like they would contribute any more as Baltimore was dominating.

But then the Niners started moving the ball, and before you knew it two long drives resulted in a touchdown and a game-sealing interception. And more importantly for Bob, points for Kittle (who finished with 12) and Aiyuk (who finished with 11). That was just enough production to earn the Band Aids a four-point victory. Deebo Samuel, whom the Packers acquired via trade, only scored 4 on Monday and didn't help.

In the other semifinal, Matt Pringle had little doubt through the weekend on whether he'd advance and held a 39-point lead over WTNE going into the Monday night finale, with Jordan Garcia's MVP Christian McCaffrey to play. Sure, it was possible McCaffrey could score 40 points (after all, WR Amari Cooper had done it the day before), but it wan to to be. McCaffrey had 18 points against the Ravens and the Beaters had advanced.

So congrats to the Band Aids and Beaters on making the final, congrats to the Packers and WTNE for making the playoffs, and we'll move on to the championship game next weekend. Here's a recap of all the games played, even the ones that didn't matter...

BAND AIDS 95, PACKERS 91: Commish got out to what looked like an insurmountable lead behind QB Josh Allen (24), WR Mike Evans (20) and K Younghoe Koo (18, and a "fucking kickers" from Vern Ahrendes). Bob got 23 from QB Justin Fields (also acquired via trade) had 16 from Amon-Ra St. Brown and 10 from RB Raheem Mostert but one of his two lineup gaffes were starting the Colts defense over the Ravens (OK, maybe fearing the 49ers offense was valid) and benching WR Pua Nacua. The Colts posted a minus-3 (Ravens D scored 15, with five interceptions) and Nacua, who should have started over Rashee Rice (5), scored 23 on the bench. Maybe Nacua will crack the lineup this weekend in the final.

BEATERS 100, WTNE 79: Pringle rode Bears QB Justin Fields into the playoffs and now into the final. Fields scored a team-high 23 points, and his RB tandem of Derrick Henry and Kyren Williams added 35 more. He did possibly lose TE TJ Hockenson (5 points) and flex Isiah Pacheco (7) to injury, though. Jordan got 21 from QB Matt Stafford and McCaffrey's aforementioned 18 points. RB Rashaad White scored 12 and TE David Njoku had 10.

SADDLES 89, INVALIDS 66: Fucking kickers! K Jason Sanders scored a team-high 22 points to lead the Saddles to victory. Vern's kicker, Evan McPherson of the Bengals, could only manage 3 points and QB Lamar Jackson's heroics against the 49ers only managed him 22. Blayze got 19 from Dak Prescott and 20 from keeper-to-be WR Justin Jefferson.

RANGERS 87, RECLNERS 62: There was a Breece Hall sighting on Sunday! The Jets RB scored 30 points against the hapless Commanders and led the Rangers to the win in thr process. QB Trevor Lawrence led the Recliners with 18.

GERBILS 108, TIRADES 64: And the team with the most points last weekend was... the Gerbils! And that's mainly because of WR Amari Cooper, who as we mentioned earlier had a career game with 40 points against Houston. WR Tee Higgins added 20 more and QB Jared Goff 14. Chuck Nelson's fucking kicker, KC's Harrison Butker, had a donut. The Tirades fucking kicker Jake Elliott of the Eagles, led the team with 17.
